Bamboo fibre has special structures and naturally hollow cross-section in the fibre. Experts have named bamboo fibre the ‘breathing’ fabric. The gloss of the fibre is bright and beautiful and it’s chemical-additive free!

Manufacturing and Production
Our Bamboo fabric is manufactured adhering to strict rules laid down by the international organic standards of the OCIA (Organic Crop Improvement Association). The bamboo is grown 100% naturally and without the use of pesticides or other chemical materials. It’s great to know that the clothing you’re wearing has been fed only by the sun and the rain. Just rain, your t-shirt didn’t need to be bathed in precious water resources we can’t afford.

Properties of Bamboo Fabric
Bamboo material has a superb natural softness and this silk-like material is ideal for wearing next to the skin. It is naturally anti-static so bamboo clothing will not stick to you.
Because of the natural hollow cross-section in the fibre the material is fully breathable. It is 98% UV protective, this equates to an approximate Sun Protection Rating of 50, essential whether you’re an archaeologist digging in Egypt or a child digging on the beach- Rock climbing or rock pooling.
With a growth rate of up to 2 inches an hour Bamboo needs to absorb water at an extraordinary rate. It retains this property when made into our clothing and so wicks moisture away 3-4 times greater than cotton, leaving you dryer and more comfortable for longer.
It has a natural thermo-control. The same hollow cross-sections in the fibre that keep it breathable also trap air which helps you to feel cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
It is naturally anti-bacterial as most bacteria cannot survive on bamboo. This means that clothes have a very limited odour retention and stay fresh, ideal when living outdoors on your next adventure.
Bamboo is such a strong fibre, stronger than oak! It will last and last and it won’t pill, so not only will it stay dryer, fresher and odour free for longer it will continue to look superb too.

Eco-Friendly
As we said Bamboo is 100% naturally grown without the need for pesticides, artificial fertilizers. It is 100% biodegradable and sustainable. It is the fastest growing plant in the world and absorbs around 5 times the amount of greenhouse gas and produces over 30% more oxygen than an equivalent amount of trees. By growing more bamboo we are encouraging more photosynthesis which means less greenhouse gas. Better for our planet, better for us!

Bamboo is extremely durable, more so than oak wood, so when you buy Bamboo clothing you know it’s going to last.
If we can encourage more clothing to be made from bamboo and other organic materials then less humans, animals, other living organisms will be exposed to many of the harmful chemicals which are used to grow conventional cotton.
We at Born to It are passionate about the outdoors but to enjoy it we need to look after and need to ensure that future generations can enjoy it too.
Synthetic fibres can cause irritation to sensitive skin because of the chemicals used in it’s manufacture.
